Better Morning, Inc has formed partnerships with a collective total of 8 schools (both public and public charter) in DC, being part of Cohort 4 in the expansion initiative by the Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) to enhance multi-tiered behavioral health services within the District's schools. Within these schools, our clinicians deliver prevention, early intervention, and clinical services to young individuals and their families.
Working directly in these school environments, Better Morning, Inc's clinicians cater to children and teenagers exhibiting signs and symptoms of diagnosable behavioral disorders, causing significant disruptions in classrooms, increased truancy, higher risks of alcohol and drug abuse, and decreased graduation rates.
Our clinicians complement the existing services available to students and families, bridging the gap for additional support historically sought in the community. Better Morning, Inc actively eliminates barriers that hinder students and families from accessing essential mental health services. Placed across schools in Wards 2 through 8, our clinicians aim to foster a safer, more nurturing school atmosphere. Moreover, they provide professional development sessions covering diverse behavioral health subjects, classroom management strategies, and case management support for educators and school personnel.
Beyond their primary roles, our clinicians also offer immediate assistance in the aftermath of traumatic events affecting the school community. Continuously engaged in training programs conducted by DBH, the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), and the DC School Behavioral Health Community of Practice (CoP), our clinicians ensure their expertise in trauma-informed practices, crisis intervention and response, social and emotional learning, family engagement, and more. Better Morning, Inc remains steadfast in providing adept clinicians to our school partners, supporting the integration of optimal practices in school behavioral health.
